LETTER SENT TO PARENTS BY THE SCHOOL BOARD:

On Board stationery, the following was sent home to parents:

September 8, 1993

Dear Parents:

The Katy ISD Board of Trustees believes we have one of the finest school districts in the state of Texas.  The strength of this District lies in our community's commitment and demand for quality education.

The Board's responsibility is to set direction and policies necessary for providing the school system our students deserve and need.  We also accept the charge to provide the resources and support for our educators as they carry out their duties.

We work with our administrators to create policies that allow our students to attend schools in a safe environment.  As was the case with the Discipline Management Plan, their eagerness to cover all eventualities resulted in language that was not appropriate for distribution to all students.  For this situation, we join the administration in apologizing to those who were offended.  We hope that this issue does not overshadow all the many accomplishments of the students and educators in our school district.

The Board supports the efforts of our superintendent, administrators, teachers, and support personnel.  Their continued dedication maintains the high standards of our district.

Sincerely,

KATY ISD BOARD OF TRUSTEES
