LETTER TO THE EDITOR OF THE KATY TIMES   BY LINDA PORTO:

Letter to the Editor, July 7, 1993

From Linda Porto, parent in KISD

Well the KISD School Board has finally done it.  The subject of corporal punishment in our district seems to be still open for debate.  Never mind the fact that the Board voted to abolish corporal punishment at last month's board meeting, and never mind that Trustee Larry Moore had more than ample discussion time at the same board meeting.  He is still not ready to let go.

In a quite unusual move (according to the rules of order) Trustee Moore had the motion to approve last month's vote tabled.  At further cost to the district involving attorney's fees we will have to deal with this issue all over again.  The rules for procedure address situations such as this one, and I feel each board member should just buy a book of these rules and save our district from legal fees.

If Trustee Moore wants to be a poor loser on a subject -- let him debate the issue of KISD's latest TAAS scores.  I would love to hear him defend those shoddy numbers.
