WATCH MOVE "STAND AND DELIVER" TO SEE HOW WELL HISPANICS CAN DO IN MATH:

There are some studies that have been done to follow mathematics instruction for Hispanics, but the ones I've read place too many qualifiers on the evidence.  I think it takes a competent, dedicated teacher to teach any group of students an academic subject. Interest and attitude have everything to do with success. The excuses should not come into play.

Besides making a great case for the math abilities of Hispanic students, it is also a great movie.

You will see how difficult it was for this teacher and his Hispanic students to achieve what they did because of the bias against them.  It is a compelling story.
