The district will not present a bond to voters in May, but has formed a committee and hopes to sway voters in favor of reworked version of a $99 million bond that was rejected in November 2013. The vote was 9,013 against and 7,549 in favor.

The school district has named  200+ as "bond committee" members.  Apparently the District's  $750,000 consultant told them that they needed to "communicate better," and having more people involved in processes of the District will look better if more people are involved.

It is amazing to me that they could find so many (they're claiming 600 people offered to serve) who would volunteer to make them look good!

Interestingly, even though they are proclaiming a 200+ member bond committee, in actuality only 128 are on the "real" committee, and the other 119 (for a total of 247) were relegated to the audience as "watchers."  Every KISD activity needs identifiable "watchers," so I'm all for that!

Why so many you say?  How about 498 (member and spouse) votes in your pocket before the election is ever called!

The composition of this committee should reflect the ethnic make up of the students in our school district.  Katy ISD became a "minority district" several years ago.  There are 40.6% whites and 59.4% are minorities.  There should also be an equal number of men and women representing those groups.

I'm always amused that the District responds so quickly to my criticisms.
