I am of the opinion that there are a lot of ringers on this list.  People who have no children in the district, people who have an 'NL' after their name with nothing else noted (and perhaps they simply forgot to enter the information), people who are perennial members of the bond committees (PBCM) (of which there are 17 this bond) and which status is highlighted, people whose egos are massaged through membership in KISD groups, people who belong to the Katy Chamber of Commerce (CofC) or the Katy Area Economic Development Council (KAEDC) and who own businesses that feed on increasing populations or benefit financially when construction occurs in the school district, people who are employees of the District or who are related to employees of the District, or who are former employees of the District (E), all may have either a vested business interest or a vested personal interest in the success of this bond proposal. Try if you will, to count the people who DON'T have a vested interest in the outcome of this bond election! In other words, it's not "all about the children."

It would also be interesting to know why there are three students from Taylor High School, four students from Seven Lakes High School, and one student from Morton Ranch High School while there are none from Katy High School, Tompkins High School, Mayde Creek High School, or Cinco Ranch High School.  And don't tell me it was because no one from these schools applied! And now I hear they didn't allow these students to vote--so why were they there? Window dressing?

The former KISD employee, Michelle Hughes, who has been brought back to be the Delphi  "FACILITATOR" of this committee once again (as she successfully was in 2006 after the first bond of the year was defeated), is evidently very adept at manipulating consensus within large groups and has been paid $28,470.13 this time to do so by the District.

If one is on this committee, please look through this list, and then think about who is sitting at your table, leading the discussion, and directing your thoughts and words in a certain direction. That person is the designated Delphi "facilitator" for your table.  They may work with Michelle Hughes behind the scenes. (Ms. Hughes charged the district for 40 hours of her time--did the committee meet for 40 hours? (Be sure to read my postings elsewhere on this website on the Delphi Technique.)  Perhaps committee members will realize how, while you asked to join this committee thinking you would be of service to your children or grandchildren and your community, you are instead being used to support what most assuredly has already been decided about this bond.  You MUST take note of the fact that last year, the District put out all the verbiage about the 2013 Stadium Bond BEFORE they convened a committee (which I pointed out).  They realized their mistake when they lost, so now they are covering all bases, and yes, they now have a committee.  They named so many of you, not for the reasons broadcast about, but to garner your vote for the bond and that of your spouse and friends.  Two hundred and forty seven times two is 494 votes already in their pocket if you comply.  How clever they are! (But only if you are foolish enough to let them manipulate you!)

The bond committee members should also make note of the fact that even though the citizens who went to the trouble to vote, voted DOWN the bond referendum by a clear majority (only one precinct close to the Administration building voted FOR the 2013 bond), the Board, under the tutelage of the Superintendent has proceeded to vote to build the STEM Center anyway!  That's unbelievable, as I've said elsewhere.  It should be against the law. It's a "let 'em eat cake" action! What should be of concern to Katy citizens and members of this committee is what will they do next to implement last year's failed bond proposal?  Are they just going to do it all anyway without the voters' approval?  And after all, they don't really need anyone's approval to spend bond money except the Board's (one time), and we all know that most of the Board members just vote for anything put in front of them!  Most of them sleep at night with their right arm up in the air!

Mark my words, they will let this committee meet 10 or 12 times, facilitate the beans out of them so that no real conversations and discussions can transpire, and then the chairman of the committee who is always chosen because he's a team player, will present the school board with the committee's "recommendation" (which won't really be from the committee but hey!) and then all of a sudden great schematics, plans, designs and "pre-approved" architects will miraculously appear out of nowhere to do the bidding of the superintendent/Board of Trustees as fast as they can before the public gets angry and votes some of them out of office.  If I were Joe Adams or Rebecca Fox, I'd make them wait until they get re-elected in 2015 or else they might be tossed.

I asked for and got through an Open Records Request last week, the land purchases that have been made recently.  They won't give me all the information I asked for (land purchase closing documents) without charging an arm and a leg, and I'm not into throwing my money away (well, actually I did because I wanted to own the land before KISD bought it--and that was money well spent!)  If I were a bond committee member, I'd be asking about that Power House property. It should have been sold by now unless they have "other" plans for it, and I cannot imagine what else could go there besides a stadium. If anyone has any ideas about that, I'd like to hear them. The District is going to have egg on its face if it has to buy and sell and buy and sell and buy, three pieces of land before it can build a stadium, but that's what they will have to do. [1. Bought land next to Tompkins High School for a Stadium, 2. Sold that, 3. Bought the Power House Property for a stadium, and it was rejected by the voters, so now they'll have to sell that 4., and then they'll have to buy another piece of property for the stadium 5.] [As it turns out, the Administrators are bound and determined to put the new stadium (and that's what this bond is all about) right where they want it--in Old Katy next to Rhodes Stadium so that Katy High School has a new stadium in which to play--and to Hell with all of you who live in the southwest quadrant of the district with your children at the three newer high schools where the parents at this point in time are footing all these bonds with their high taxes! In my opinion, the new stadium should be located convenient to those three new schools! Now they are claiming there is no more land available in the southwest quadrant.  Baloney!  There's plenty of land there, and I'll bet it wouldn't cost as much as what they paid for the Power House property.]

Hopefully the residents of the southwest side of our District realize that THEY should have a stadium in their part of the District.  If they don't get it put there, you can bet they won't get to be first in line to play at a new stadium.  If the new stadium is in Katy, it will be Tiger Stadium.  It's not right for all the rest of us to pay for that privilege for Katy High School. If anyone still does not believe this scenario, just look at how the District stuck it to Cinco Ranch High School (whom they consider as the only competition for Katy High School's football team) with the football schedule this year for Rhodes! They get to play on a lot of Thursdays and Saturday mornings.

Last but not least, did someone forget that Bear Creek is still in the Katy School District?
