FINALLY AN UNBIASED ONLINE KATY NEWSPAPER:

Dennis Spellman has stepped up with his online newspaper to take the place of the respected InstantNewsKaty (respected when John Pape was their chief reporter, that is).  Mr. Spellman, with REAL credentials for what he is doing, has evidently been producing Covering Katy for a while.  Too bad we didn't all know that he was.

His news editions have been a Godsend in this time of the Bond Push by Katy ISD.

Read this story and then look at the comments.  Note especially those that are posted by Pro Bond citizens.  They can't see the forest for the trees.

Our Opinion: Vote NO – Fix The Mess At The Polls In May

Posted October 23, 2014

Covering Katy believes there are only two reasons why the school bond issue has become so divisive among taxpayers and they are easily fixed. The fix means defeating the current bond, making a few changes and approving a better plan in May.

The cost and the location of the stadium are the only reasons this bond is in peril. Fix those issues the bond wins easily at the polls, heals the wounds created by the district’s mishandling of the issue and avoids cementing community division for years to come.

Covering Katy supports the construction and renovation portion of the bond and we support building a second stadium, but the stadium plan in its current form is a poison pill that causes us to call for rejection of the whole proposal.

If we approve the stadium portion of the bond we’ll cement a split in the district that that will never go away. Our only chance to avoid this division is to fix it now.
