MY COMMENTS ABOUT THE EFFORT TO PUT FORWARD ANOTHER BOND ISSUE IN 2014:
As soon as
the 2013
bond
proposal
was
soundly
defeated
in
November
2013,
8,841 to
7,398, and
only one
precinct
near the
ESC had
a
majority
in favor
of the
bond,
the school
district
began to
plan for
the next
bond.
They never
give up.
And while
they bide
their time
waiting
for the
right
moment to
spring
another
bond on
the
public,
they
managed to
come up
with
$5,000,000
to build
the "STEM"
center
with money
from the
Maintenance
and
Operations
portion of
the tax
rate.
Such a
move flies
in the
face of a
majority
of voters
who voted
NO on the
bond
proposal
that
included
the STEM
center!
This
expenditure
also takes
money away
from the
part of
the tax
base that
pays for
salaries
for
teachers
and other
employees!
In
addition,
the
message
should
have been
loud and
clear that
the
parents of
students
in our
district
wanted the
buses
back. They
are fed up
with their
kids being
placed in
danger by
not having
buses
available
as they
have
always
been until
Alton Frailey
got here! The
$5,000,000.00
could have
been used
to hire
bus
drivers!
But the
superintendent
and the
school
board
don't
listen to
the
voters.
Citizens
can't do
much about
the
superintendent,
but they
can sure
make
certain
that they
vote out
the
incumbents
as they
come up
for a
vote.
The three
that are
up for
re-election
in May
(and if
someone
doesn't
oppose
them
they'll
just walk
in), are
Henry
Dibrell,
Terry
Huckaby,
and Bill
Proctor.
[And walk in, is just what they did!]
Below is
the item
that is on
the Katy
ISD web
site
urging
input from
the
citizens
of the
school
district.
I would
say that
you won't
be
listened
to, so why
bother,
but that
is up to
you.
A better
course of
action
would be
to elect
qualified,
smart,
courageous
people to
the school
board in
May!
Of course
it's
necessary
for smart
people
(who
aren't
backed by
the PTA or
some
fringe Tea
Party
group) to
sign up to
run for
the
positions.
I would
also note
that in
the school
district's
bond
propaganda, they
are
predicting
80,000
students
in KISD in
the not so
distant
future.
I would
like to
point out
that this
same
demographer
in 2006
when they
were
trying to
railroad
THAT bond,
predicted
that there
would be
83,418
students
in Katy
ISD in
2015!
She's been
off by
thousands
of
students just
about
every time
she's made
a
presentation
to the
school
board for
the last
nine
years! Her
assistant
one time
stated
that their
predictions
were plus
or minus 9%
correct! (I
was at
that
meeting
and heard
her
myself.)
That's a
whole
school or
two off!
I wouldn't
let them
coerce you
with the
Demographer's
prognostications.
She's not
got a very
good
crystal
ball!
And by the
way, did
anyone
notice
that the
grand 60
million
dollar
stadium in
the Allen
school
district
(that
seats
18,000
people)
and was
built only
18 months
ago, was
shut down
last week
because of
all the
cracks in
the
concrete
everywhere?
"On
February
27, 2014
the
stadium
was closed
due to
cracking
in
concrete
making it
unsafe to
use. All
future
events
have been
canceled
until
further
notice."

Three
guesses
who
built it,
and the
first two
don't
count!
How about
PBK--Katy
ISD's
architect
of choice
since 1999
for all
high
schools,
junior
highs, the
proposed
new
stadium,
and most
other
major
facilities.
