Katy ISD School Board Reveals Superintendent Finalist

KATY (Covering Katy) – Dr. Lance Hindt of Allen ISD is the lone finalist for the job of Katy ISD Superintendent of Schools. Covering Katy’s Steve Ottesen is at the district’s administration building getting reaction. He will have a full report later this evening.

Hindt is a graduate of Katy’s Taylor High School so this position will be a homecoming for him.

At Allen ISD, Hindt was hired to bring together a community that was divided over the building of a very expensive football stadium. Katy is devided over the same issue and the board hopes he can reunite Katy following the departure of Superintendent Alton Frailey in August.

Dr. Lawrence Hindt was named as Allen ISD Superintendent of Schools in February 2014 and officially joined the school district on March 24, 2014.

Under his leadership, the school district has earned numerous awards and recognitions. The district was named as a finalist in the 2016 H-E-B Excellence In Education Awards program and also was named a finalist for the H-E-B Excellence In Education School Board Award. The Dallas Morning News also named Allen ISD as one of the Top 100 Places To Work in DFW in 2015.

Dr. Lance Hindt

Dr. Hindt came to Allen from Stafford, Texas where he served as superintendent of schools for the Stafford Municipal School District since May 2011. He previously served as assistant superintendent of schools for Fort Bend ISD in Sugar Land, Texas. He began his career as a geography, health and physical education teacher at John Foster Dulles High School in Sugar Land. He later became assistant principal at the school and was promoted to director of the Fort Bend ISD Technical Education Center. He then served as principal of Dulles High School until his appointment as assistant superintendent in 2007. He completed post-doctorate work in educational leadership at Lamar University in Beaumont. He earned his doctorate from the University of Houston, his master’s degree from Prairie View A&M University and his undergraduate degree from William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Dr. Hindt and his wife Kathryn have two children, Zach and Alex.
