What is "Family and Consumer Sciences"?

The mission of Southeastern's Family and Consumer Sciences program is to prepare students for professions which enhance and strengthen the well-being of individuals, families, and communities across the lifespan. Through dynamic coursework and a variety of field experiences, students develop the knowledge, skills, and professional characteristics to pursue careers or advance studies in Human Development and Family Studies, Child Life, Nutrition Education and Promotion, or Fashion Merchandising.

Today's FCS professionals practice in multiple settings. They are early childhood, elementary, secondary, university/college, and Extension educators, administrators and managers, human service professionals, researchers, community volunteers, business people, and consultants who address the issues most important to our quality of life. Southeastern's FCS program is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) and recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

This degree can be obtained on line according to the University's web site.

Mrs. Fox should tell us if she attended this university for four years.
