'LEARNING LIST' OUTED BY DONNA GARNER:

If you think your elected school board members are picking out the textbooks and other materials your children are using, guess again.  There are underhanded schemers plotting to place in your child's hands materials that, if you are a Conservative Republican, you would not like one bit.  Thank Mrs. Garner for her explanation of the facts regarding this matter.

“Learning List – Bad Use of Taxpayers’ Dollars”

ACTION STEP: Local taxpayers need to pressure school administrators not to use taxpayers’ dollars to purchase subscriptions to Learning List which is a for-profit company that could easily influence school administrators to purchase liberal-left instructional materials such as those found in Common Core.

I first heard about a Texas company called Learning List when I read an article in PR Newswire: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/three-of-the-five-largest-texas-school-districts-subscribe-to-learning-list-300006008.html

Learning List is a private company which has set itself up to make money by reviewing textbooks (now called ”instructional materials” — IM’s – the term also covers digitized materials, etc.). Learning List (LL) evaluates IM’s to show how they line up with Texas curriculum standards (TEKS) or the Common Core Standards (for other states).

Learning List also evaluates the IM’s that the elected members of the Texas State Board of Education have put on the adoption list; however, the SBOE adoption process is a transparent process with numerous public hearings in which the public is given the opportunity over a lengthy period of time to scrutinize the IM’s and then to offer written and/or oral testimony. After all concerns are evaluated, a list of corrections from the SBOE is sent to the publishers; and they are fined if these errors end up in the IM’s.
