LETTER SENT TO NEIGHBORS REGARDING THE ACCIDENT:

                       Western Gas Resources Storage, Inc.

June 20, 1994

Dear Neighbor:

An unfortunate accident occurred at our facility yesterday, Sunday, June 19, that resulted in the death of a contractor's employee.  About 10:15 a. m., a back-pressure valve was being removed from our No. 4 well located within the plant site.  During the removal procedure, an adapter flange at the top of the blowout-prevention equipment separated and threw one of the workers upward, resulting in the fatal injury.

At the time of the accident the well's safety systems activated. The well was shut in and remains under control.  There was only a minor release of gas, which immediately dissipated.  There was no explosion or fire.  There was no danger to the neighborhood.

From the beginning of this project, we have committed ourselves to safety and to ongoing communications with you, our neighbors.  We are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.  If you have questions, please call me directly at 395-7050.

Sincerely,

Larry Krohmer

Manager, Katy Hub & Storage
