MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE BULLYING POLICY:

One section of the DMP that continues to bother me is the one that is on Bullying.  No indication of the penalty for engaging in Bullying is given.  I think that the DMP should be very explicit in what happens to a student who bullies other students.  First offense, even if it is not witnessed by a staff member, becomes an item in the student's permanent record.  If it happens again, a parent will be called in to "shadow" that student for a week to all his/her classes.  If that doesn't stop the student's bad behavior, he will be moved to another school, and his record will follow him.  The current policy of allowing the harassed students to move to another school is ridiculous.  Why should that student, whose life has been made miserable, have to leave HIS friends to go to another school?  That action is punishing the victim!

It is the BULLY who needs to have HIS/HER life turned upside down.  The BULLY needs to lose all of his/her friends, his parents need to become painfully aware of their lack of responsible parenting, AND the student needs to be taught a lesson.

If the Katy ISD administrators cared about the "bullying" problem, they would create policy to deal with it and stop it.  Obviously, they don't care!
