MY FLYER THAT WAS DISTRIBUTED IN 2008:
FLYER DISTRIBUTED IN FLEETWOOD, BARKER'S LANDING, MEMORIAL THICKET, AND THORNWOOD IN MAY 2008 (that I wrote)
May 15, 2008
Dear Fleetwood, Barker’s Landing, Thornwood, or Memorial Thicket Homeowner,
Some of you have recently participated in a contested Katy ISD school board election. As has been done for many years, there were some who wished to gain support by telling those in your neighborhood great falsehoods!
To set the record straight, NO ONE has ever brought forward to the Katy School Board the proposition to close Wolfe Elementary School. NO ONE has ever considered tearing down that school and selling off the land. NO ONE can offer you proof of any of those things.
And yet, every year about two days before the school board election, you get flyers in your mailbox or letters from the school board president or emails telling you that such matters ARE under consideration in an effort to get you to the polls to vote for this or that incumbent board member. Such scare tactics are unbecoming of elected officials.
Your very own neighbor, Judy Snyder, has allowed her friends to send you such a letter, and we think you should be outraged that one of your own neighbors would perpetrate such as lie as this one. We hope that the next time there is a school board election that you try to find out the truth before you rush out and do this woman’s bidding.
Additionally we think that you should be outraged that Ms. Snyder, who has no children in the Katy schools, has seemed oblivious as your neighborhood’s elementary school has been allowed to fall into ruin over the last twelve years that she has sat on the School Board!
Wolfe Elementary has had NO major construction upgrades that we can find during her tenure. Didn’t she promise that she would represent you when she first ran so many years ago in 1995?
For these and many other reasons, the Katy Citizen Watchdogs are planning to speak at the next KISD board meeting to ask that some of the bond funds be spent in your neighborhood to build an all new Wolfe Elementary School. Surely you have asked yourself why YOUR kids have to go to a decrepit school while most everyone else has a brand new school or at least one that gets upgraded every now and then. We hope you will support this request of the school board.
