WARNING ON AP HISTORY THIS FALL (2014):
Parents should be aware that the new president, David Coleman, of the College Board is the same fellow who also had lots to do with the Common Core curriculum. (See links below.)
What better way to jump start the program than by using AP coursework to implement it? (The College Board controls the curriculum that is taught in AP classes all over America.)
If your child is going to be taking AP History this fall (2014), make certain that those who oppose this bad idea have been successful in getting this matter fixed. Many people are trying right now.

"The Framework (of AP American History as taught to our most intelligent students in Katy ISD) also sidesteps any discussion of the personalities and achievements of American giants whose courage and conviction helped build the United States. It excises Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, and the other founders from the nation’s story. George Washington’s historical contributions are reduced to a brief sentence fragment noting his Farewell Address. Two pages later, the Framework grants teachers the flexibility to discuss the architecture of Spanish missions, suggesting it merits more attention than the heroes of 1776."
