Williams to Leave KISD Board

Katy Independent School District Trustee Dr. James Williams has announced that he will not seek re-election to the school board seat he has held for 18 years.

Williams has held Position 6 on the board since 1967.  He served as president of the board for a total of eight years, from 1970 to 1973 and again from 1978 to 1982.

Position 6 will be filled along with Positions 5 and 7 in the school district's regular election on April 6.

The Position 5 seat on the board is currently held by Bill Callegari, who was appointed to fill the vacancy created last summer by the resignation of D. N. "Monty" Montgomery.  That position will be on the April ballot, but the person elected will serve only the two years that remain on the term.

Callegari has filed for re-election, but he has filed for Williams' Position 6 seat since that seat will be filled for a full three-year term.

Board member Bill Kellond, who holds Position 7, also has filed for re-election.  Kellond was appointed to serve the final year of Kay Glover's term when Glover resigned.
